Transmission

Hallen Construction installs below-ground electrical transmission lines for PSEG, Con Edison and several independent investor entities.

These transmission cables are constructed to supplement local power plants, usually carrying power over long distances and adding reliability to the grid. The cables can be AC or DC depending on the distance that the power is being transported.

This work typically requires trenching, excavation, conduit installation, backfill and roadway restoration. In addition to the conduit, precast concrete vaults are installed to accommodate cable splicing and pulling.

Depending on customer requirements, Hallen will partner with an electrical subcontractor to pull and splice cable. In some instances, the customer will pull and splice the cable in-house.
