Assistant Project Manager Special Operations

Position Overview:

The Assistant Project Manager (APM) supports successful planning, execution, and closeout of heavy civil construction projects. Working closely with the Project Manager, Superintendent, field personnel, subcontractors, and customers, the APM helps ensure projects are completed safely, on schedule, within budget, and in accordance with contract requirements and company standards.

 

Essential Job Functions:

  • Assist Project Managers with planning, coordination, and execution of multiple construction projects.
  • Support project scheduling, budgeting, forecasting, and cost control efforts.
  • Review contract documents, plans, specifications, and bid packages.
  • Prepare and track subcontracts, purchase orders, and material procurement.
  • Coordinate subcontractors, vendors, suppliers, and field personnel.
  • Monitor project progress and identify schedule or cost impacts.
  • Assist with preparation and processing of:
    • Change orders
    • Requests for Information (RFIs)
    • Submittals
    • Shop drawings
    • Pay applications
    • Daily reports
    • Project correspondence
  • Track project quantities, production, and labor productivity.
  • Maintain project documentation using company software and document control systems.
  • Attend project meetings and prepare meeting minutes and follow-up action items.
  • Assist with monthly project cost reporting and financial forecasting.
  • Coordinate permitting, inspections, and utility company requirements as needed.
  • Support project closeout activities including punch lists, as-built documentation, warranties, and final turnover packages.
  • Promote and uphold company safety policies and regulatory compliance.
  • Build and maintain positive working relationships with customers, inspectors, subcontractors, and internal teams.
  • Other activities may be assigned by your manager

 

Qualifications/ Requirements:

  • 1–4 years of construction management or project engineering experience preferred.
  • Working knowledge of construction drawings, specifications, and contracts.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills.
  • Ability to prioritize multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to read and interpret construction plans and technical documents.
  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Must be highly accurate, have strong organizational skills and be detail-oriented
  • Must have the ability to communicate effectively and tactfully with all levels of employees and the ability to prioritize
  • Proficient in MS Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook). Strong Excel skills.

 

Working Conditions:

  • Office and site environment with frequent computer, mouse, and keyboard use.
  • Alternating between sitting or standing or walking as needed.
  • Hearing, talking, reaching, grasping.

 

Salary Range: $60,000 – $100,000
